What’s up with the weather this week? Rain in the mid 40’s and 50’s? It’s May! Come on! But this weather has got me looking back at Nerrisa and Justin’s wedding—I always feel compelled to think about it when it is cold and nasty outside because it reminds me that there is such a thing as sunshine!
Nerrisa and Justin were married on a warm summer day out in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. And what sunshine there was. Even as I write this with a blanket around my shoulders to keep the chill off, I can feel that Jamaica sun on my skin and feel that crystal blue water lap at my feet. I can even taste that sublimely spiced Jamaican jerk. Heaven!
This wedding held a lot of firsts for me. It was my first destination wedding and my first time to Jamaica—and I even got to bring my wife, Deb, along!
None of this would have been possible without Nerrisa and Justin, of course. When we met for our first consultation, they were actually planning a local Connecticut wedding, and then I got a phone call: “Hey, it’s Nerissa. There’s been a slight change. We’ve decided to get married in Jamaica.”
I was surprised, and I think I managed to say, “Oh, that’s awesome! I’m happy for your guys.”
But Nerissa wasn’t finished yet, and she said, “And we want you to come! And you can bring your wife too!” Yeah, this job doesn’t suck!
The wedding itself was everything a wedding should be. It was filled with family and friends celebrating the beginning of their lives together—in paradise! It was a warm day in both weather and love, and I think I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking. Hopefully, they’ll take the chill off, too!
Nerissa and Justin, thanks again for allowing me and Deb to join you on your wedding celebration. We think of Jamaica often, and if it hadn’t been for you, we wouldn’t have those memories. Here’s to you both . . . eh hem . . . and little Max . . . oh yeah . . . and the new house!
